Dasha and her mother with Coach Steve Johnson
Daria (“Dasha”) arrived in the United States in 2022 with her parents and younger sister after fleeing the war in Ukraine. Her father drove the family across Europe before they were finally able to make their way to America. At just 13 years old, Dasha spoke very little English and found herself adjusting to a new country, a new culture, and a new way of life.
An amazing young women!
To help her settle in and stay active, Dasha’s parents enrolled her in a group tennis program with the Bucks County Tennis Association. She had never picked up a racquet before, but she quickly discovered a love for the sport. According to her coach, Steve Johnson, Dasha is attentive, hardworking, and incredibly dedicated—qualities that have helped her progress rapidly.
This year, she earned the #1 singles spot on her high school tennis team, an extraordinary achievement for any athlete, and especially impressive given how recently she began playing.
We are proud to support Dasha as she continues to grow both on and off the court. She is truly an exceptional young woman, and her story is an inspiring reminder of resilience, determination, and the power of new beginnings.
